Who We Are
Keeping the nature healthy
Here at Vesna Panglao Conservation, we are driven by a single goal; to do our part in making the world a better place for all. Our decision making process is informed by comprehensive empirical studies and high quality data evaluation. We strive to build productive relationships and make a positive impact with all of our pursuits.
Activities
Coral Reefs Protection
After extensive bomb and drag net fishing, the reef at Napaling Point was reduced to rubble. Vesna took action. In just a few short years, 39 coral structures transformed rubble into a thriving reef. With the help of the local government, the site has been declared a Special Marine Tourism Park and is protected around the clock. Vesna continues to work with the Maritime Police to eliminate destructive fishing in Panglao and greater Bohol.
Monitoring
Vesna’s team of volunteers cleans and tracks the health of the reef every two weeks. Newly rescued and naturally spawned “baby” corals are vulnerable to being smothered by algae. The team aids by removing the algae until the corals are healthy enough to survive on its own. The team also monitors the reef health by recording coral growth rates, survival rates, natural spawnings, fish diversity and fish population growth.
Educating
Vesna empowers the local community through its education program. Trainings help former fisherfolk transition into new careers as snorkel guides, dive guides and lifeguards. Vesna is helping shape future generations by instilling the importance of marine conservation. These programs are in local public middle schools, the local college and in private schools in Manila.

Root Wastewater Treatement
The Root Wastewater Treatment system makes use of biological and physical-treatment processes to remove pollutants from wastewater. Wastewater treatment, also called sewage treatment, breaks down the organic material and filters pollutants using locally sourced materials before it reaches aquifers or natural bodies of water such as rivers, lakes, estuaries, sea and oceans. It functions without power making it a sustainable and economical alternative
